If you have a problem in activating your new Windows Vista installation online, you may get following error code :

• Activation fails with error code 0x8004FE33. Refer here.

Microsoft support information on website is not very usefull in fixing this:

Method 1 (Do not use Basic authentication) does not work, if you are in office and in office domain because you will not have access to modify proxy server.

Method 2 (Use the telephone to activate Windows) doenot have adequate information to get the activation id. You may keep searching for getting activation id but you will never find if you are connected to the network.

Follow these steps to activate your OS:

1. Disconnect from internet and select activate option again.
2. Now you will get one more option of “Other Option”.
3. On selecting “Other Option”, you will option to activate it over phone, where you can select the country.
4. Next page will provide you support phone numbers for that country along with 8 peice activation id
5. Use the activation key whey you dial the phone for activating the OS!
