Keeping relations alive

Man is a social animal. I sometimes wonder how it shall be if I have to live alone, with no one around me to talk, no one to socialize with. The very thought of this scares me. I believe that relationships can be broadly divided into two:

- One, the relationship that is built in school, colleges, with your course mates, and
- Second, relationships that you build as a professional.

We hop from city to city (especially in IT), from one job to another, making new friends all the way. Now maintaining the old relationships are really hard, especially when we move to a new city and are too busy with our day to day life. Relationships are easy to break, but difficult to build… When we leave a city, we leave behind the relationships those were build over the years. Well, we try to maintain them for some time, but as we get adjusted to new place & new life it becomes hard to keep in a regular touch. Relationships are directly proportional to the amount of effort we put in maintaining them. As the physical distance grows, we have communication gaps. This gap later becomes a black hole… that can only be filled if we keep our self in contact, be in touch regularly, which is a two way communication.
